LAS VEGAS (AP) - A woman has filed a lawsuit against a Las Vegas hospital alleging her daughter’s death was the result of unfair treatment at the facility.
Amy Vilela tells KLAS-TV (https://bit.ly/2nsaw6G ) that her daughter didn’t get the appropriate screening at the emergency room of Centennial Hills Hospital because she couldn’t provide proof of health insurance.
The 22-year-old Shalynne Ramos died of a pulmonary embolism in 2015.
Vilela says Ramos underwent an X-ray exam and got a leg brace after she sought treatment at the ER for knee pain on June 3, 2015. Three weeks later, she traveled to Missouri, where she had to be rushed to a hospital. She died two days later.
Centennial Hills’ attorney tells the station Ramos was “assessed by appropriate medical personnel, screened and evaluated before being discharged.”
