SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say an investigator for a central New York district attorney’s office has been charged in a hit-and-run accident that has left a teenager in critical condition.

The Syracuse Police Department says 37-year-old Peter Rauch, of Liverpool, was charged with leaving the scene of a serious personal injury accident. Police say the accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at an intersection in the city.

Officials say Rauch hit a pedestrian and drove away. His vehicle was found in a private club’s parking lot.

The victim’s family tells The Post-Standard that 18-year-old Seth Collier is on life support at a Syracuse hospital.

Rauch was an investigator with the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office at the time of the accident. The DA’s office says he has been fired.

Rauch pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning. He’s being held in the county jail on $10,000 cash bail.
