Pregnant woman severely injured by shooting in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a pregnant woman has been shot inside her home at one of Birmingham’s public housing communities.

Police say the shooting happened before 3 a.m. on 41st Street North at Tom Brown Village.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/2nNsm1H ) that the victim called 911, and was able to tell police who shot her.

She was taken to UAB Hospital with injuries that are described as life-threatening, and was undergoing surgery.

Police say the shooting appears to be domestic-related, but the relationship between the suspect and the victim wasn’t immediately clear.

Police were currently searching for the suspect before dawn Tuesday.
