BALTIMORE (AP) - Maryland authorities say two people are dead after a 50-mile, high-speed police pursuit of a pickup truck reported stolen in New Hampshire.

Officials announced Monday that Maryland Transportation Authority Police tried to stop a Chevrolet Silverado on Sunday morning on Interstate 95 just north of the Fort McHenry Tunnel in the Baltimore area. Authorities say the Laconia, New Hampshire, police department reported the truck stolen Friday.

The driver failed to stop, leading police on a pursuit for about 50 miles into northeastern Maryland.

The pursuit ended when the driver of the Chevrolet, 28-year-old Stephen Reinholz of Laconia, lost control, sending the truck into a guard rail and down an embankment.

Officials say Reinholz and a passenger, 28-year-old Kaili Pierce of Concord, New Hampshire, died at the scene.
