MARIPOSA, Calif. (AP) - California prison officials say an inmate escaped from a minimum-security conservation center in Northern California.
The Fresno Bee reports (https://bit.ly/2n8g59E) officials are searching for 31-year-old Blake Castro, who walked away Monday from Sierra Conservation Center, Mount Bullion Conservation Camp in Mariposa County.
Castro was reported missing during an inmate count.
Castro is described as a white male, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 240 pounds with brown eyes and black hair and a tattoo of Chinese writing on his right forearm.
Officials say he was committed to the California Department of Corrections from Fresno County to serve a four-year sentence for inflicting corporal injury on a cohabitant.
He was scheduled to be released in November 2018.
