ACTON, Mass. (AP) - The supermarket employee struck and killed by an SUV backing out of a spot in the Acton store’s parking lot has been identified as an Ashburnham woman.
Police say 62-year-old Diane Fichtel was struck at about 7 p.m. Tuesday outside the Trader Joe’s store. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban has been identified as an 18-year-old Vineyard Haven man.
The driver remained at the scene.
The death remains under investigation and no charges have been filed, but acting Police Chief Richard Burrows has said it appears to be an accident.
