TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Wind gusts approaching 60 mph have downed trees and power lines around New Jersey.
PSE&G and JCP&L report 11,291 homes and businesses are without power on Thursday. Most are in Monmouth, Ocean and Mercer counties.
Passengers are facing delays at Newark Liberty International Airport.
The National Weather Service recorded a wind gust of 58 mph in Seaside Heights. A gust 0f 57 mph was recorded in High Point and 49 mph at Mercer County airport.
In addition to the wind, there is an enhanced risk of wildfires for most of the state because the relative humidity is expected to drop below 30 percent throughout the afternoon. Forecasters say that, along with the wind, create an elevated risk.
