ST. STEPHEN, S.C. (AP) - Three people have been killed after a fire destroyed a mobile home in St. Stephen.
Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury told local media outlets one person was able to escape the fire that started at around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
That person was in the yard when firefighters arrived. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor burns.
Authorities say the roof of the home reportedly collapsed. Three people had been missing during the fire, and Salisbury says he found their bodies in the home.
Dan Barb of Berkeley County Emergency Services says the three people trapped in the fire are believed to be adult relatives.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is working with local agencies to investigate the cause of the fire.
