WASHINGTON (AP) - Metro says it has repaired a leak that was sending water into a Yellow Line tunnel.

The leak south of L’Enfant Plaza was first reported around 11:30 a.m. Thursday by a train operator. The transit agency said in a statement that structural engineers and inspectors responded and determined that the water was entering from outside the Metro system. Third-rail power was turned off for safety reasons.

For three hours, Yellow Line trains ran on a single track between L’Enfant Plaza and Pentagon City.

The statement says it hasn’t been determined whether the source was ground water or a non-Metro-related pipe outside the tunnel wall.
