RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 28-year-old Sparks man who was tracked down by police after the license plate fell off his pickup truck in a hit-and-run crash has been convicted of leaving the scene of an accident.
A Washoe County District Court jury found Andrew Lastine guilty Wednesday on one count of duty to stop at the scene of the January 2016 accident that left a Reno woman with neck and back injuries.
Prosecutors say authorities were able to identify Lastine based on the license plate number. Officers said they found the damaged truck at his home about a half-mile away where he was hiding under the covers in his bedroom.
He faces up to 20 years in prison at his sentencing scheduled for May 3.
