WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Wilmington police say a 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a high school student.

Local media outlets report the teenager is charged with first-degree murder and possession of handgun by a minor. Police say he was arrested without incident on Tuesday by U.S. marshals.

Authorities say 17-year-old Raymond Kain, a student at Hoggard High School, was found dead around 10 p.m. last Thursday in a local neighborhood. An autopsy confirmed he was shot to death.

The suspect is being held at the New Hanover County jail without bail. A spokeswoman for the New Hanover County Schools said the suspect is not a student in its system.
