LOWELL, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say two drivers were killed when their vehicles collided head-on in the town of Lowell.

Troopers were called to reports of a crash on state Route 100 on Monday evening. Police say 45-year-old Gordon Farrar, of Newport, and 68-year-old Joanne Nolin, of Derby, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the crash happened when a northbound pickup truck driven by Farrar crossed into the southbound lane and slammed into a vehicle that Nolin was driving.

Investigators say Nolin was wearing a seatbelt but Farrar was not.

The crash remains under investigation.
