LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Three people were rescued after a fishing boat crashed onto the rocks of the Long Beach breakwater as thick fog plagued the Southern California coast.
The Press-Telegram reports (https://bit.ly/2n6xbFX) two rescue boats responded to a distress call about 5 a.m. Tuesday and found the trio hanging onto the breakwater.
One rescue boat picked up the three people while the other crew pumped water out of the damaged 18-foot fishing boat and towed it to a launch ramp.
Fire Department spokesman Brian Fisk says no one was hurt.
The National Weather Service says a shallow marine layer under a strong inversion will continue to produce areas of dense fog near the beaches and over coastal waters through at least Wednesday and likely Thursday as well.
