ALAMO, Tenn. (AP) - A 40-year-old woman has been killed in an apartment fire in western Tennessee.
WBBJ-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2mCoPDf) Sarah Mann, of Brownsville, died in the fire that broke out at a duplex in Alamo around midnight Saturday. Neighbors say they called 911 to report the residence was engulfed in flames and someone was trapped inside.
Twenty-nine-year-old Josh Haynes, who was also in the apartment at the time, says he threw a bike against a window to try to get Mann out, but the heat from the flames prevented anyone from getting close enough to the residence.
Firefighters say the duplex didn’t have smoke detectors.
Officials say the cause of the blaze may have been an electric heater in the wall, however, this hasn’t yet been confirmed.
