SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say five people were injured and several cats and a dog were killed when flames ripped through a house in Santa Ana.

Capt. Tony Bommarito of the Orange County Fire Authority says four people were hospitalized, one in critical condition, following the blaze reported late Saturday. A fifth person was treated at the scene.

Bommarito says crews knocked down the flames at the single-story home in under a half-hour.
