STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - The Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District has named a new superintendent to run its schools.

The Board of Trustees unanimously voted Tuesday for Eddie Peasant (PUH-sant), a former Mississippi Administrator of the Year, to lead the district. Peasant will replace Superintendent Lewis Holloway, who announced in November plans to retire effective June 30.

WTVA-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2lXH59I ) Peasant is currently assistant superintendent of the Tupelo School District, where he oversees secondary education, athletics, technology, dual enrollment and discipline. Peasant has also served as principal of Clinton High School and Gulfport Middle School.



Peasant’s official start date is July 1.
