WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - Police say an 8-year-old boy has died from injuries he sustained in a car crash in Rhode Island.

The Warwick Police Department says Jahmeer Valles-Halloway died Wednesday after being injured in a head-on collision Sunday evening.

Authorities say 34-year-old Justin Preston, of East Providence, was driving south on Warwick Avenue when he crossed over the double yellow line and struck a northbound vehicle.

Three adults and two children were injured in the crash.

Preston was arraigned Tuesday on charges including DUI and driving on a suspended license. Police said he will face additional charges in coming weeks.

He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on March 14. It’s unclear if Preston has a lawyer.
