SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) - A woman has been hospitalized with smoke inhalation in a fire at a duplex at South Lake Tahoe.

The Tahoe Daily Tribune reports (https://tinyurl.com/yavm2ayj) two dogs died in the fire Friday morning on the southwest side of town west of U.S. Highway 50.

One of the duplex units was destroyed and the other suffered significant damage.

South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue Chief Jeff Meston says crews responded to the call at about 7 a.m. and had the fire fully under control by 7:45 a.m. He says the fire appears to have been started by smoking materials in a bed.
