LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, Calif. (AP) - A 10-foot-deep sinkhole has opened on a mountain highway of northeast of Los Angeles.

State transportation officials said Friday that the hole will force the closure of an eight-mile stretch of State Route 2, also known as Angeles Crest Highway.

Contractors will have to replace some 200 feet of drain pipe and repave the road, a process that could take about a month.
