PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island firefighter facing charges for soliciting a minor for nude photos and sending indecent material to a minor is suing for alleged unlawful suspension.

WPRI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2t0IMFH ) 32-year-old Jason August has filed a lawsuit Wednesday against Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare and the city of Providence.

In the lawsuit, August claims Pare violated the firefighters’ union’s collective bargaining agreement and his constitutional rights. Pare seeks to return to his job and receive back pay for earnings he would have received without the suspension.

According to the lawsuit, Pare has told August’s lawyers the city is standing by its decision.

A spokesperson for the city did not respond to requests for comment.

August has pleaded not guilty after his 2015 arrest. His case is still pending.
