BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas man has been found guilty of first degree murder in the 2016 death of his girlfriend.

The Blytheville Courier News (https://bit.ly/2r06aTe ) reports Kordarro Woodard was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Wednesday. He’s required to serve a minimum 70 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole. He received a credit for 12 months already served.

Prosecutors showed the jury a video from a police body camera taken June 2016. It shows Martha George accusing Woodard of setting her on fire.

George died days later from the burns at a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

But defense attorney Jim Harris alleges that George poured gas on herself and tried to scare Woodard by lighting a cigar.

Harris says he plans to appeal Woodard’s guilty verdict.
