JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A Missouri man who posted photos of stolen guns, illegal drugs and cash on his Facebook page has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for being a felon in possession of firearms.
The U.S. attorney’s office says 28-year-old Tremaine Cordell Smith, of Jefferson City, was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to the crime in February.
A Columbia police investigation of stolen property led Jefferson City police officers to execute a search warrant. During the search, several stolen items were recovered, including a Springfield 9mm pistol. A picture posted on Smith’s Facebook page appeared to show the handgun.
Anyone who has been convicted of a felony is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. Smith has three prior felony convictions in Cole County for distributing a controlled substance.
