STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) - A historic lift bridge connecting Minnesota and Wisconsin is stuck in the up position.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says a power outage disrupted the scheduled noon lift of the Stillwater Lift Bridge on Tuesday. The bridge’s lift span was headed down when an electrical meter socket failed, cutting power to the bridge.
The bridge spanning the St. Croix (kroy) River stopped about 30 feet above the water.
Crews are working to repair the transformer. MnDOT says the bridge is expected to resume normal operations Tuesday night.
