SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles County authorities say two juveniles found in a car with guns and live ammunition told authorities they were attempting to take part in a kidnapping prank.

The male suspects were arrested Saturday near Santa Clarita after someone reported a suspicious vehicle in a residential neighborhood.

Sheriff’s Lt. Doug Mohrhoff tells the Santa Clarita Signal newspaper (https://bit.ly/2s5nGdb) that the firearms belonged to the boys’ fathers.

Mohrhoff didn’t provide details about the planned prank but said it could have gone seriously wrong.

The suspects could face weapons-related charges. Their ages were not released.
