PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pockets of thunderstorms packing heavy rain are sweeping across a large swath of Pennsylvania, bringing flooding and reports of a possible tornado to the western part of the state.
Bob Coblentz, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, says the storm bands are remnants of Tropical Depression Cindy that triggered flash flood warnings over several states Friday.
He says there was a report of a funnel cloud touching down in Uniontown, about an hour south of Pittsburgh, but it hasn’t been confirmed.
A flash flood warning is in effect for Westmoreland County until 8:30 p.m.
The bands of wet weather are moving eastward, and a thunderstorm watch is in effect from the Lehigh Valley all the way to the Philadelphia area until 10 p.m.
