HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - One of Alabama’s largest events centers is proposing a $42 million expansion to meet increased demand.

Al.com reports that city officials are considering the upgrades for the Von Braun Center in downtown Huntsville.

Officials with the indoor arena, meeting and performing arts complex this week presented an expansion plan to the Huntsville City Council.

Details of the plan include a new music hall; additional parking and additional space for various purposes.

The Von Braun Center, one of Huntsville’s most recognized landmarks, was designed by architect Lloyd Herman Kranert. The facility opened in March 1975 and has become one of the South’s largest entertainment venues.
