PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Johnson and Wales University is planning to lay off employees following enrollment issues.
The university announced it will lay off three percent of its 2,400 employees which amounts to about 72 positions. The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2rYJs2n ) faculty will not be affected by the staffing changes.
According to a statement, the school attributes the cuts to falling enrollment, prices in tuition and competing specialty academic programs.
University vice president of communications and government relations Lisa Pelosi says the school will expand to attract students in areas that are becoming more popular like health and wellness, nutrition and engineering.
Johnson and Wales has campuses in Providence, North Miami, Denver and Charlotte.
