BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - More jobs are coming to a Baton Rouge telecommunications center after an upgrade to the facility.
The Advocate reports Hamilton Relay Inc. is adding 40 positions to the center, which opened in 1998 and is one of six it has across the country that process calls for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have difficulty speaking.
In 2011, Hamilton began processing captioned telephone calls from the center, resulting in growth that required a remodeling and expansion.
The Aurora, Nebraska-based company provides contracted relay and captioned telephone services through 24 contracts to 18 states, the District of Columbia and the Island of Saipan. It also provides internet-based captioned telephone services nationwide.
