LYNDON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say an 80-year-old passenger has died in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 91 in the town of Lyndon.
Police said Hugette Thompson, of Lyndon, was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday morning. The driver, 85-year-old Richard Thompson, was hospitalized with injuries.
Police said the car was traveling on an uphill grade and around a left curve. The road straightened for a short distance and then began curving to the left again. The car went straight off the right-hand side of the road onto a grassy shoulder, where it traveled for about 200 feet before striking a rock outcropping and overturning onto its roof.
Both were wearing seatbelts.
Police are still investigating the crash.
