FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A Florida deputy shot and killed a suspect who authorities say was trying to ram another car after a hit-and-run crash.
The Florida Time-Union (https://goo.gl/YrD29h ) reports that the shooting occurred Friday afternoon.
Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper says the suspect rear-ended another driver in Fernandina Beach during slowing traffic and then tried to drive away. The other driver followed and the suspect crashed into the other car again after getting stuck on a dead end.
Authorities say a deputy arrived as the suspect was attempting to crash into the other vehicle again. The deputy opened fire, killing the suspect.
Officials haven’t named the deputy or either driver.
