13-year-old boy found fatally shot in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Police say a 13-year-old boy was fatally shot in a north St. Louis neighborhood.

Police Maj. John Hayden says the boy was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his head Thursday night. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/2sxpPdD ) the shooting happened near a playground in a parking lot behind an apartment building.

Hayden says about eight teenagers, all believed to be under the age of 16, were handling a gun when it went off.

He says detectives are trying to determine if the shooting was accidental or intentional.
