INDEPENDENCE, La. (AP) - Louisiana authorities say they have identified the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash.
The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/2sJfxuW ) Loranger resident 32-year-old Geza Ray Kovach Jr. was killed early Saturday morning after a tire on his 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle “failed.”
State police say the motorcycle was traveling north on Interstate 55 near Independence and that two other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Police say after the initial fall Kovach was hit by a 2012 Kia driven by a 36-year-old Mississippi woman, while the bike was struck by a 1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by a 52-year-old Mississippi resident.
Nobody else was injured.
Authorities say investigators don’t suspect impairment was a “contributing factor” but “as part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples were obtained” for analyzing at the state police crime lab.
