LEBANON, Ind. (AP) - Central Indiana police say a man was fatally stabbed during a home invasion attack that left his wife seriously injured.

Lebanon Police Officer Ben Phelps says 73-year-old Robert Max Foster died Sunday morning from stab wounds.

His 68-year-old wife, Sonia Foster, suffered serious wounds in the stabbing attack that came as the couple was sleeping, but she ran to a neighbor’s home and summoned help.

Police say the man suspected in the attack fled the scene and remained at large Sunday evening.

Lebanon Police Chief Tyson Warmoth tells the Lebanon Reporter the attack in the city 20 miles northwest of Indianapolis “is a tragedy” and vowed to find the assailant.

Warmoth urged anyone with information on the attack to contact police. He says more information would be released Monday.
