San Ignacio Resort Hotel, a luxury property in San Ignacio, Belize, is celebrating 40 years of hospitality in the Central American country with renovations to its property and hospitality options. The 26-room hotel, the only San Ignacio hotel actually located in the jungle itself, has completed a major remodeling that includes the addition of two new suites with in-suite Jacuzzis. Other additions include a revamped lobby, formal dining room, expanded outdoor seating area and renovations to the existing suites.
The suites allow guests views of the rainforest and are furnished with local art and other furnishings crafted by Belizean artisans and fashioned from local hardwood and mahogany.
The San Ignacio’s Green Iguana Conservation Project educates guests via an interactive exhibit about the local reptile, and guests can also learn more about the nearby rainforest on medicinal tours across the privately owned grounds. There guides educate visitors on the natural healing techniques used by ancient Mayans to treat various ailments. Bird watching is also on offer.
Off-property excursions entail visiting Mayan ruins such as Xunantunich, Tikal and Caracol, as well as caving, tubing, zip lining and canoeing.
“San Ignacio Resort Hotel is honored to have spent four decades as the premiere resort in San Ignacio and looks at each guest that enters our doors as extended family,” said Mariam Roberson, managing director of the San Ignacio Resort Hotel, in a statement. “We are extremely touched by the kind words and gestures that people in the San Ignacio community, as well as those visiting the property, have bestowed upon us as we celebrate this monumental year.
“With our recent renovations and upcoming endeavors in 2017, we are looking forward to continuing the high-quality service and true adventure travel that has become associated with the San Ignacio Resort Hotel brand,” Ms. Roberson said.
