ADAMS, Mass. (AP) - A close knit community in Massachusetts is mourning a high school student who died in a car crash.

The Berkshire Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/2sab1lW ) 17-year-old Khaliq Sherman, of Adams, died from injuries sustained in a single-car crash Monday night.

Police say Sherman was riding in a car with five others that travelled down an embankment and stopped on a tree around 11:30 p.m. Authorities say Sherman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.



Police say the five other occupants were treated for minor injuries at Berkshire Medical center.

Administrators informed Hoosac Valley Middle and High School students of Sherman’s death Tuesday.

Hoosac Valley students say Sherman was a talented artist who helped many.

Police say the crash is under investigation.
