WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) - A fire official in Utah says investigators found evidence that a woman in her 70s killed herself before her body was found after a pre-dawn fire at a home in West Valley City.
West Valley Fire Battalion Chief Bob Fitzgerald did not provide additional details, but told the Deseret News (https://bit.ly/2reNU8C ) there are clear signs the woman took her own life.
He says the woman lived alone and her body was found in a bathroom after firefighters doused flames about 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Fitzgerald says the cause is still being investigated, but the fire appeared to have started somewhere in the front of the home.
He says police and firefighters were initially prevented by smoke and flames from entering the house.
