DALLAS, Pa. (AP) - Teachers in a northeastern Pennsylvania school district say they’ll go on strike when the next school year begins if they can’t agree on a new contract over the summer.
Teachers in the Dallas School District haven’t had a contract since September 2015. They issued a news release Wednesday saying they’ll strike on Sept. 5 if that doesn’t change.
The school board in March filed an unfair labor practice complaint against the teachers union, claiming it mounted an illegal strike and refused to submit to mandatory arbitration.
The teachers went on strike from Nov. 14 to Dec. 9. Seniors will still graduate June 9, but other students will attend school through June 30 because of days lost to the strike and snowy weather.
The union says the school board has scheduled several bargaining sessions later this month.
