THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - A Lafourche Parish grand jury has indicted Lockport Police Chief Warren A. Vedros Sr.
Prosecutors say Vedros faces one count each of felony theft and forgery and three counts each of malfeasance in office and filing false public records.
The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/2stF5Z0 ) an arrest warrant will be issued for Vedros, who could not be reached for comment. It was unknown if Vedros has an attorney.
Though he declined to discuss specifics, District Attorney Cam Morvant says Vedros’ indictment was the result of an investigation that began about two months ago.
Vedros has served as police chief since 2004. Before that, he served as a Lockport Police officer and worked for the Lafourche and St. Charles parish sheriffs’ offices.
