ALBANY, Wyo. (AP) - Fire managers say good weather has helped them make progress fighting a wildfire in southern Wyoming burning in beetle-killed trees.
The Keystone Fire has burned 3 square miles (8 square kilometers) in the Medicine Bow National Forest near the Rob Roy Reservoir, which supplies water to Cheyenne.
Operations Section Chief Brian Achziger said Sunday that firefighters have been cutting large down large amounts of trees without any injuries. He said they’ll be able to build containment lines more quickly as they get more logging skidders and dozers.
The fire has evacuated the communities of Keystone, Rambler, Lake Creek and Moores Gulch and closed nearby camping areas in the forest.
