FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - A roadway outside Fort Wayne’s Memorial Coliseum is being named for the man who was the city’s minor-league hockey team radio announcer for more than six decades.

The arena’s board of trustees approved the designation of Bob Chase Way for a drive off Coliseum Boulevard in front of the building. Chase called Fort Wayne Komets games on WOWO-AM for 63 years before he died in November at the age of 90.

Komets President Michael Franke says the honor is a fitting tribute to Chase for decades of dedication.

A naming ceremony is being planned for about the time the Komets open training camp in October.
