OPINION:
President Trump deserves a lot of credit for making the difficult decision to ban transgender people from serving in the military. It is an important first step toward restoring American military might.
While the radical left goes into orbit amid claims of discrimination, it is important to understand that certain behavioral and physical attributes — everything from flat feet to drug abuse — have always disqualified some from serving. Transgenders are just the latest example of a group with a politically correct agenda that has overwhelmed the military in recent years and led to an erosion of morale, the near extinction of the warrior ethic, and an unwillingness by highly effective members to extend their service.
The military should never be a social-engineering science lab. The president’s willingness to abandon such practices will ensure that America and its allies are safer and that America’s military is once again the envy of the world.
