PINEVILLE, La. (AP) - Veterans interested in agriculture can get information at a free workshop where topics will include beekeeping, raising goats and raised-bed gardening.
The Natural Resources Conservation Service’s state conservationist, Kevin Norton, says it’s a chance “for veterans to learn how to get connected to agriculture either as a hobby or starting a small family farm.”
Several agencies are joining in the workshop Friday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center auditorium in Pineville.
The NRCS says it will include hands-on demonstrations of beekeeping and raised-bed gardening.
Members of veterans’ families also are welcome.
It’s from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
The conservation service is part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Other partners are the VA, the Louisiana Armed Forces Foundation and the Acadiana Resource Conservation and Development Council.
