APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say the pilot of a small-engine plane has died following a crash just outside the Apple Valley Airport in the Southern California desert.

The FAA says the fixed-wing aircraft went down Saturday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s department says the pilot died at the scene.



No further details were released.

The FAA and the sheriff’s aviation division are investigating the cause of the crash.
