PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The Providence City Council has voted unanimously to create a task force to crack down on dirt bikes and ATVs being driven illegally through the city.

Officials say there have been complaints of people speeding dangerously through public parks and causing damage that has cost the parks department thousands of dollars.

WLNE-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2ugTxXK ) the task force will establish a tip line to help police track down the vehicles.

In May, the council passed an ordinance allowing police to confiscate and destroy illegal off-road vehicles.
