AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - The latest federal campaign finance reports show U.S. Sen. Angus King is the top fundraiser in the 2018 U.S. Senate race.
King reported raising about $650,000 during the spring and nearly $1.6 million in total this year.
He received $20,000 apiece from aerospace and defense corporation General Dynamics and leadership PACs led by Democratic U.S. Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Chuck Schumer.
Republican state Sen. Eric Brakey is mounting a run against King, an independent and former Maine governor.
Brakey reported raising nearly $80,000 during the spring and having about $32,000 on hand. Brakey received $1,000 from the National Cannabis Industry Association PAC and $5,000 from Republican U.S. Sen. Rand Paul’s leadership political action committee.
Republican Gov. Paul LePage this week again said he might run against King.

This story has been corrected to show the amount King reported raising during the spring is $650,000, not $80,000.
