LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Officials say a man has died after being hit by a police car in Kentucky.

Lexington police told media the officer was responding to another officer’s request for assistance early Wednesday when the pedestrian was hit. The Fayette County Coroner’s office said in a statement a 50-year-old man died of blunt force trauma, but did not immediately release his name.

Police did not identify the officer, who wasn’t injured.

The department says the crash is under investigation.
