CRISFIELD, Md. (AP) - One of the hottest annual political events in Maryland has taken place.
The 41st Annual J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake was held Wednesday in Crisfield.
The all-you-can-eat festival draws politicians from across the state. They sweat through the meet-and-greet on an asphalt parking lot by a marina.
Next year is a big election year in Maryland, with the governor’s office and all of the state’s 188 legislative seats on the ballot.
The feast also is a fundraiser for the Crisfield Area Chamber of Commerce. The chamber’s president, Bill Buttrill, says the event lets people know about Crisfield, which is “at the end of a dead end road.”
The festival is named in honor of Crisfield native J. Millard Tawes, who was governor from 1959 to 1967.
