SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) - One of the two bodies found inside a burning home in Spokane Valley Tuesday was killed by a gunshot wound to the head.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim Wednesday as 67-year-old Joy Kihara.

Her manner of death was listed as a homicide.

Both bodies were discovered by firefighters. Most of the house was in flames by the time firefighters arrived at around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Officials say two dogs were also found dead in the home and are believed to have died by gunshot.

The identity of the second person found in the burning house has not been released. Spokane Valley Police Department officials said Wednesday afternoon that detectives don’t believe there’s a further threat to the community.
