TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Monsoon storms have caused large dust clouds over parts of the Phoenix metro area and led to a tornado warning in southern Arizona.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the Picacho Peak and Red Rock areas Friday evening, but there were no signs that a funnel cloud was spotted or ever touched down.
Dust clouds swept through several areas northwest of Phoenix late Friday afternoon, but most places received little rainfall.
There were no immediate reports of any damage around the state or power outages.
Arizona’s monsoon season usually runs from mid-June to the end of September and is characterized by thunderstorms that stir up dust storms, rain and lightning throughout the state.
