LOS ANGELES (AP) - Pink and white lotus blossoms are blooming just in time for a Los Angeles festival named after the aquatic flowers.
The Lotus Festival - the 37th annual at the city’s Echo Park Lake - kicks off Friday and runs through the weekend.
The celebration traditionally honors Asian cultures. Food, art and music from Bangladesh will be featured this year.
Visitors will also see a return of dragon boat races on the picturesque lake near downtown.
The lotus flowers that typically bloom during the summer in a corner of the lake are a draw for tourists and residents alike.
